Timothy Wayne Petoskey

Timothy Wayne Petoskey

May 17, 1955 - October 7, 2018

Tim grew up in Michigan. He was the youngest of 8 siblings and loved to play with them in their little stone house. He was the baby and he enjoyed every minute of it.

Tim was a proud member of the Little Travers Bay Band of the Odawa Indian Tribe. He loved God, his family, and friends more than anything. He had many challenges and joys in his life, none of which he was more proud of than raising his sons Jeremy and Matthew. He was a military man and was proud to have served his country in the Marines and Navy. Tim was an avid hunter in his early years and loved to tell stories of the wilderness and all of the wonders he found out there. He was a collector of lighthouses and visited many over the years.

Tim met his wife Valerie 12 years ago and they were married September 12, 2007. He was her Shrek and she was his Fiona. He loved to play the Grinch, but his loved ones knew it was an act. He would give the shirt off of his back to a stranger and go to great lengths to help those in need. He was a prankster and loved to break the ice with a joke. He loved rock and roll and was always jamming out! He loved animals and had several pets. His snake was named Lucille, never mind that it was a boy, he loved that snake.

Tim was survived by his wife Valerie Petoskey; his son Jeremy Petoskey and his wife Kristy Petoskey; his son Matthew Petoskey and his wife Deanna; his son Matthew Stagner and his wife Tara; his daughter Christy Rodriguez; his daughter Elizabeth Gipson and her husband Chris Gipson. He was preceded in death by his parents Wendell Petoskey and Dortha Lytle-Petoskey and 5 of his siblings. He was survived by two of his sisters, Linda Smith and Carla Hilyard. He has 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews!!!

Tim may have left us too soon but, he left us with so many memories and funny stories. There is a wonderful reunion going on right now with our family members who have gone before who are welcoming Tim home.

Tim is going to be greatly missed. As us cousins age we are slowly diminishing in number. I live on the LTBB reservation near Petoskey, Michigan. One thing I do know, we will be together again.
