She learned baking, gardening, canning and cooking on a wood-burning stove and how to drive a tractor. Sue also had a love for sewing, music and sports and developed a love for making maple syrup. In her teens Sue was invited to a Bible Study by some friends and soon after she accepted Christ as her Savior. A few years later while attending Wausau Bible Church she became a Sunday School Teacher. It was while attending the church she met Norman, who had been working with her brother, David. The couple married November 1st, 1947, and two years later their first son, Steven was born. Sue and Norm each felt the Lord speaking to them about attending Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music, (GRSBM) so they attended studies there and worked at the school to help pay their way, both graduating with honors. Norm pastored a church in Belmont, Michigan for 3 years at which time Sue was given a guitar that she readily learned to play and used in ministry. From there they moved to Pembine, WI where Norm worked as director of Lake Lundgren Bible Camp and used his carpentry skills to build a house there, where they lived for 3 years. During their stay at the camp their second son Tim came along. The family went back to GRSBM, Norm working maintenance but was hoping to teach and Sue was a dorm mother. In 1964 they moved to the Chicago area where they ministered at Clearing Bible Church for 3 years. While living here in Illinois, Sue worked at Baukas grocery store as a cashier, Carson Pirie Scott & Co. as a Christmas gift wrapper and then at Palos East Grade School, first as a lunchroom monitor and then as the Health Clerk, retiring after 19 years (1976-95). Around 1968 the family started attending Oak Lawn Bible Church where Norm filled in for Youth Director for a short time until they hired a permanent one. The couple were active in the church, Sue teaching in Awana and participating in Woman's fellowship. Together they loved spending time with family, especially taking their 2 grandchildren to McDonalds on Saturday mornings. Between 1977-1986 Norm and Sue continued volunteering services at a church in Dolton, where Sue loved to sing and play her guitar. Sue lost the love of her life in 1986 and then moved in with her son, Tim in Worth, IL, until he relocated to Baltimore, MD at which time she got a small apartment and eventually moved to the Bolingbrook area, where she then transitioned slowly to a nursing home. Having lived 99 years, she survived rheumatic fever, colon cancer and covid 19. As of April 15th, 2026, Suzanne, (beloved GG) is home with the Lord in heaven, the place He prepared for her. <br /> A celebration of life was held at Bethel Bible Church in Evergreen Park, IL on June 6th, 2026
