Reiner "Rein" Gunther Cacace, 62, beloved brother, son and uncle peacefully crossed the bar at his home on the evening of August 27th, 2019 in San Rafael, CA after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer. He's survived by his loving partner of 33 years, Colleen Stauss. Reiner was born to Vincent & Rosalina Cacace on August 7, 1957 in Roth, Germany. He moved with his family to the USA to settle in Machester, CT at the tender age of 5. After graduating Machester High School, he traveled and worked throughout Florida, lived for 2 years on a boat in the Bahamas, worked in the hospitalilty industry in Key West then moved with his life partner, Colleen to San Rafael, CA in 1987. He was employed at Marin Fence Company for over 24 years and retired as their Foreman. Being a natural born athlete, Reiner loved sports, aviation & the outdoors; soccer, golfing, boating, diving, tennis, target shooting, airshows, running, photography and later in life, discovered bocce. Even though he was a lifelong Red Sox & Pat's fan, he supported the Bay Area teams. He was a member of Loch Lomond Yacht Club, served several terms as their Port Cpt., and as an avid aerodynamistics, was a proud member of the Air Force Association. He leaves to mourn: his brother Nikolas Cacace and partner Wendy Viers of Valencia, CA; his sisters, Gabriela Cacace of Manchester, CT; Erika Lebron of Manchester, CT; Edith Rea and husband, Tim Rea, of Ashford, CT; five nieces, Jennifer Welch, Hartford, CT; Alexis Kathleen of San Diego, CA; Alexa Lebron and husband Julian of Manchester, CT; Ronianne Gust and Analee Scott of CA; and two nephews, Stefan Lebron of Portland, OR; and Nicolas Scott of CA. He was predeceased by his parents Vincent & Rosalina Cacace, brother, Werner Cacace, in-laws Richard & Joan Stauss, Kathleen Scott and his beloved pug of 16 1/2 years, Bailey. "Rein" always had a twinkle in his eye & smile for everyone he met. True friend to the end, his mirthful spirit is gone but forever remembered. <br />
A Celebration of Life, " Final Happy Hour" was held in Reiner's memory at the Loch Lomond Yacht Club on Friday, September 27th, 2019.
