Mary Francis Smith

March 15, 1937 - May 31, 2020

Mary Francis Smith was the second of six siblings born March 15, 1937 in Attala County Mississippi to the union of Will T Roby Sr and Mary Vernon Sallis. Preceding her in death were both parents and two siblings Fred D. Roby and Will Roby Jr.
Mary Francis attended school in Sallis, Mississippi. Later in life, she moved to Gary, Indiana then to Chicago. It was in Chicago where she spent many years as a Bar Keeper for a number of establishments. Her favorite establishment was the one of her dear friend Amy's.
Mary Francis was a faithful member of Progressive True Vine M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Cornelious Harvey Sr. where she served 39 years in various auxiliaries including the Nurses Board and Usher Board. Frankie, as she was affectionately called, was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Mary Francis loved Sunday afternoon Gospel programs. Some of her favorite groups were 5 Blind Boys, The Soul Stirrers and Sounds of Deliverance. Mary Francis loved life. She kept it moving! If she wanted to go, she found a way to get there! Amazingly, Mary Francis never forgot the birthday of any of her family members. She would be the first to call you to say Happy Birthday. Mary Francis will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Mary Francis leaves to cherish her memory one brother Leon Little of Gary, Indiana, Sisters: Kathryn (Willie) of Aurora, Illinois, Eloise Estes and Thelma Roby of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
