Marlene Delena Trekofski

Marlene Delena Trekofski

November 8, 1940 - July 30, 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend on July 30, 2019, with her loving family by her side.

Marlene was born in Edmonton, Alberta on November 8, 1940 to Otto Martin and Edna Martin (Knopp) in New Sarepta, Alberta. At 8 years old Marlene and her family, including brothers Allen, Raymond, Lyle, Del, and sister Delores moved to Richmond, BC. During this time she attended Mitchell Elementary, Cambie Secondary, and Richmond High. After her schooling she moved to Calgary and met Elmer Trekofski - they were married on July 29, 1961 and continued to live in Calgary for 2 years before moving back to Richmond, BC. They had two children - Kim on April 25, 1967 and Murray on June 2, 1993.

In her early life Marlene was known as a small child with a large voice, and through her lifetime blessed many people with her beautiful singing. The family formed a musical group which often played at churches, wedding and funerals. Elmer and Marlene worked hard together on a few different businesses over the years initially owning an auto body repair shop, before moving into the trades, and eventually becoming a home builder. Elmer would be the labourer & technician while Marlene would take care of the administration and bookkeeping. They were a very good team and worked well together. July 29, 2019 marked their 58th wedding anniversary.

When Kim married Todd Jackson and had children, she became a grandparent for the first time to granddaughter Shea, and then Layne. She was very involved in the lives of Kim, Todd and the girls, babysitting and spending time with the girls, reading stories, going camping and having regular family dinners. She was the most fantastic mom and grandma possible, always positive, encouraging and uplifting.

Murray and his mom always had a special bond. She would be his biggest fan at his ball games growing up. Throughout the years she was continually there for him showing unwavering support, dedication, love and courage.

Marlene was a constant pillar of faith and strength to friends, family and community members. She always made time for them, to give them a prayer for any hardship or encouragement they may need, and usually bringing Elmer along to fix their sink, stove or pretty much anything else that needed repairs. She brought joy into the room when she entered, loved to tell stories, loved to laugh, was a tireless prayer warrior, and always had an endearing twinkle in her eye. She loved nothing more than her saviour Jesus Christ and her family.

She was predeceased by brothers Allen, Raymond & Lyle & sister Delores. Her younger brother Del, lives with his family in Armstrong. B.C. Marlene will be sorely missed by her loving husband Elmer, her children and their families. She was fun loving, kind hearted, warm and gracious person whose void will be felt by many.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.samministries.org
