Elisher Jerry "Sonny" Cotton, 84, of Delhi, Louisianna, passed away on January 12, 2020. He was born to parents Willie May McDonald and Isaac Cotton, on August 8, 1935 in Kemper County, Mississippi. In 1945 he and his mother relocated to Delhi Louisiana. <br /> <br /> Sonny met Ora E. Kennon in 1953. They were married in May of 1955 in Baker, Louisiana. Together they raised 4 children: Jerry Cotton , Linda Williams, James Cotton and Brenda Daniels. <br /> Sonny worked as a High School Custodian and grounds keeper. After 30 plus years of service, He retired from Delhi High School in 1997. <br /> <br /> Elisher is survived by his 4 children Jerry Cotton (Crystal) of Jacksonville Florida , Linda Williams (Darryl) Warren, Ohio , James Cotton (Felicia) and Brenda Daniels (Kevin) of Youngstown and 8.5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was loved by many as he loved and reared other children as well in Delhi, La. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church in Delhi, LA <br /> <br /> He was preceded in death by his parents Willie May Shellie and Isaac Cotton. The family has entrusted Tennant Funeral Home with the arrangements. <br /> A Celebration of Life is scheduled for January 24, 2020 at Tennant Funeral Home.

    Mr. Cotton earned the respect from all who knew him, just by being the kind of man that he was...hard working, caring, trustworthy, and friendly to all. Not everyone can say that. Laverne, I did not know that he sang, but I knew with that deep, bass voice, that he ought to. I look forward to hearing him in that heavenly choir some day. I had already missed him when we would pass his house on 80 and seeing it empty and sad. I did not know if I had missed his passing, and I would comment, "I wonder if Cotton has died". Rest in peace, sir. Well done

    God has called a good soul home ,he has served his time with family and friends no more pain ......there was never a time that I can remember Mr.Cotton not to speak (wave ) when he was seen by others...Rest In Peace MR.COTTON.... MY CONDOLENCE TO THE FAMILY..
