Edward John Rodgers

October 16, 1933 - March 11, 2019

Ed passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed surrounded by his family and with the love of his life, Cyndy Right, by his side, just as she had been in life for 58 years.

Edward was the youngest and last living child of John and Bertha Rodgers' 13 children. Born and raised in Mayfair section of Philadelphia, he was a member of St. Bernard's Parish till he retired to the Jersey Shore.

Ed was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office and later worked for the Cape May County Consumer Affairs Department.

He was an active member of his community serving in many positions at Holmesburg Boys Club. Later, after the death of his daughter Cindy, he became an influential founding member for the Survivors of Cancer Group. His tireless efforts led the annual Socs Fundraiser to become a highlight of the summer season. He loved being the MC for the Aoh Irish Fall Festival in North Wildwood.

He is predeceased by his 12 brothers & sisters; and his loving daughter, Cindy. He is survived by his wife, Cyndy; his three children, Edward Jr, Christine & Daniel (Michelle); along with 6 grandchildren, Tara (George), Kaitlyn, Meghan, Conner & Mia; 2 great grandchilden Rhyleigh & Logan; and also many nieces and nephews.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations in Ed's name be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice
c/o Office of Philanthropy
521 Moredon road
Huntington Valley, PA 19006

Ed and Cyndy were the gold standard for marriages. They were best friends and always supported each other and enjoyed just being together. Ed was always fun, every time I hear Ride Sally Ride, I think of him dancing to that tune. Always one to lend a hand to a friend in need. Proud of his family and loved by everyone who knew him. Great Guy, he will be missed.

Dear Aunt Cyndy, Eddie, Chrissy, Dan and Grands,
Our hearts are so saddened for your loss of our Dear Uncle Ed!
Through the past few weeks many pictures of sweet memories of our times together have shown up n my memory feed on fb, I’m sure to remind Mike of what a wonderful uncle we were blessed to have in our lives!
Thank you, both for the warm welcome you gave me over 48 years ago. Having your sons in our wedding was an honor. Going to Wildwood and driving home with Uncle Ed and Mike in the back seat, slightly inebriated, was sure one for the books and thank God you were my co- pilot, Aunt Cyn!!!
Welcoming us to our 1st home in Mayfair, having us for Thanksgivings, stopping in on Halloween’s will forever be in our memory! Knowing you both were always there for Mom gave us such peace of mind. The strength you shared as a couple in the devastating death of Cyndy gave us such exemplary example of true love and strength.
The encouragement you both gave Mike and I through our struggles with my family and the great advice and encouragement you gave us when we moved to FL .... I could go on and on....THANK YOU, BOTH! Know you are in our constant thoughts and prayers. We will see you, soon, Aunt Cyndy and till we meet again, Uncle Ed, you will be sorely missed!💔☘️💚
    All our love,
    Karen & Mike

Last year while checking in to a St Patty’s Day Party we were getting drinks and lost sight of Ed. We turned around and there he was singing Danny Boy. Needless to say he was met with a round of applause by all.

Ed was 1 of the kindest, friendliest, gentleman I have had the privilege to meet. When in his company he always made me feel very special yet it was Ed who was the special man, gentle man. Cindy and family I know your hearts are broken and you are so in our hearts and prayers . We hope all your good times together can sustain you throughout the days ahead Cindy.
