Dr. Gerald Lee Brennan passed away peacefully Monday, June 22, 2020 in Beaumont, Texas. He was 87. He was born on May 25, 1933 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Lester and Ruby Brennan. Gerald was the beloved husband to Myrlis Brennan. Gerald and Myrlis were married for nearly 66 years. Gerald noticed Myrlis Mueller on campus at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where they were both students. <br /> <br /> After graduation, Gerald attended Iowa State University, where he earned his doctorate degree in chemistry. He was immediately hired by DuPont as a research chemist and would spend his 33-year career at DuPont. He holds 3 patents in his name. <br /> <br /> One of Gerald's many hobbies was woodworking. He made beautiful furniture and treasures for his family. He also loved photography. <br /> <br /> He built dozens of wheelchair ramps with the Trinity Army, helped build two houses for Habitat for Humanity and regularly volunteered at Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont where he was an active member. <br /> <br /> He is survived by his wife, Myrlis, and two sons, Ken and Eric. Dr. Ken Brennan and his wife, Anne, reside in Georgetown,Texas. Eric Brennan and his wife, Dana, reside in Houston, Texas. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Amy, Meghan, Katie and one grandson, Jake, as well as great-granddaughter, Ellie who is the daughter of Meghan and Eric Zeien. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Janet Clore, who lives in Imperial, Missouri and Jeannie Mueller, his sister-in-law, who lives in St. Louis, Missouri. <br /> <br /> His sons were his pride and joy as they reflect all of the values he instilled in them. <br /> <br /> A private family service was held in the Memorial Garden at Trinity United Methodist Church.
