Our dear friends, Buddy and Pat Bender, have had an unthinkable start to 2019. On Tuesday, Jan.1, their beloved son, Deantay Carter did not survive a horrid asthma attack. Deantay leaves behind a precious little girl. The shock and grief witnessing medical personnel work with your son for so long to no avail left Pat suffering acute medical issues herself and she had to be admitted to the hospital for monitoring and tests. Deantay had no life insurance to cover his burial costs. Pat has no health insurance at this time to cover her unexpected stay in the hospital with costly tests. Those who know Buddy and Pat know they love the Lord and never meet a stranger. They both would take in a stranger, feed them a meal, and give them the shirt off of their backs. A burial plot has been donated in order to provide a final resting place for Deantay. However, costs remain to embalm him, casket, vault, hearse costs to the church and to the burial site, opening and closing of a grave. And these costs will not touch Pat's outstanding medical bills. We want to be able to assist our dear friends in their time of loss and mourning. Hopefully taking some of the burden off of them and allowing them to properly grieve the loss of their son. A GoFund Me page was discussed, however, GoFundMe keeps a portion of the contributions to cover their handling costs. Holiday Heights Baptist Church has graciously agreed to accept donations, to be kept separate from all other church funds, for Buddy and Pat. Donations will then go directly to covering funeral costs, Pat's medical costs, and should there be any funds remaining they would be maintained by Buddy and Pat for Deantay's precious little girl left with no father. Our prayer is that each one whose lives have been touched, and blessed, by Buddy, Pat and Deantay would make a donation to this fund. No donation is too small. It takes the $5 and $10 donations to meet the needs of the family. Please be in constant prayer for Buddy and Pat, as this is not the first child that they have been left to bury. They, and their granddaughter, will no doubt need prayers to get through these next days, weeks, and years. The pain of losing a loved one never goes away, it only becomes more bearable with God's grace. Lift this sweet, Godly family up in prayer! And if you can and will, please make a donation on their behalf, in lieu of any flowers or other expressions of sympathy.
