Carlos Lynn Carpenter, age 60, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. <br />
Born January 21, 1959 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his father, Larry Lynn Carpenter, daughter, Emily Kathryn Cox, paternal grandparents, Leon & Marie Carpenter, and maternal grandparents, Reginald (Buck) & Elsie Bonnette. <br />
Carlos, fondly known as 'Los by bandmates and friends, was a talented musician and songwriter. He played lead guitar and sang with numerous local bands throughout his years, including The Fugitives, LA-9, the Outlaws, and toured with The Lacour Brothers and Marva Belle, performing at US military bases across South Korea in the 90's. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching Saints football, playing guitar and singing, crafting his own guitars and teaching others to play. <br />
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving partner of 11 years, Janice Jones and her son Nicholas, and devoted dog Prince, Mother, Patsy Carpenter Lester & David, daughter, Alisha Ashworth (Jamie), brother, Paul Carpenter (Leah), sisters, Lisa Carpenter and Pennie Erskins, grandchildren, Zoe and Michael Ashworth, and a host of special family members and friends. <br />
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Calvin Baptist Church, Calvin, LA, at 11:00 a.m., with Bro. Bobby Bates and Bro. Lamar Carpenter officiating. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. Interment will be at Sanders Cemetery.
