Ivory Lee Spruill March 24, 1948 - September 27, 2018

On March 23, 1948 a queen was born to Willie Carter and Siner Jones. They named this diva, Ivory Lee Carter. Making her their 8th child, Ivory was the baby of her siblings: James Carter (deceased), Jannie Montgomery, John T Carter (deceased), Willabell Madison (deceased), Sammy Carter, Barbara Ann Peterson ( deceased) and Virginia Carter (deceased). After her mother's passing away, when Ivory was only four, her eldest sister Jannie became the rock for her siblings.

Ivory attended Lincoln High, and loved her family and friends. When her heart locked with Frank Jordan, the boxer, he knocked down the wall to her heart, birthing her first child Susan Carter. Her second child came after marriage to Billy and moving to California. She called her beautiful baby boy Billy Spruill (Jr.), making her Ivory Lee Spruill.

Moving to California from Jersey with her husband, she met some her greatest friends. She worked 20 years at Balboa Hospital, where she retired and lived a full and amazing life. Ivory was a lover of music, singing karaoke and she loved to dance. She was the life of the party and loved to dress up and was very fashionable. A born hustler, because she could sell anything, she loved to collect things like Barbie's, Beanie babies & hats. Everyone who knows her, knows how she feels about her house. She kept it as beautiful as she was inside and out.

She leaves behind a daughter, Susan Carter and son, Billy Spruill; one granddaughter, Synia Carter; three grandsons; and four great grandchildren who will sincerely miss her.

Today we won't morn, today we will celebrate the life of a Great Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother and mostly a Friend. Ivory was a true friend to everyone she knew and loved, so with that being said we are going to do what Ivory did best and celebrate.
